Visit of the Prelate of Opus Dei, Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz, to Toronto

Friends of Wellspring Newsletter

This was a special year with the visit of the Prelate of Opus Dei, Monsignor FernandoOcáriz, to Toronto for four days in August.

Thank you for your prayers in 2019 for Wellspring Cultural Foundation to promote the universal call to holiness in the midst of the world.

Ernescliff College is a spring-board for numerous activities for high-school and university students and for young professional men. For example, in 2019 high school boys attended the One-Up leadership program and the Big Picture Seminar in Quebec City. University students benefited greatly from the Scholar’s program and courses on Church teachings and philosophy. Last year was also another successful year for the leadership speaker series for young professional men with speakers such as Howard Breen former CEO of advertising firm McLaren McCann.

As you may be aware, Wellspring’s current campaign is to pay down the loans and mortgage from the purchase of Ernescliff College in 1994 and the construction of Wilson Heights, in 2015. These facilities are critical to the mission of supporting Opus Dei in Ontario.

At the start of the year, we had approximately $1.45 million left to pay down on our debt. Through your prayers and the support of those who made these initiatives possible, Wellspring was able to pay $210,000 against that debt in 2019 on top of the regular monthly costs for the priests’ needs, for operating the foundation and for property insurance, interest, taxes, upgrades and repairs. Wellspring also sends 10% of its donation revenue to support Opus Dei activities in other countries with scarce resources

Again, please accept our sincere gratitude on behalf of the Board of Directors and all those in Ontario and around the world who benefit from the activities and support of Opus Dei.
